Moms talk Motherhood and Entrepreneurship at the Mom Your Business Sunday Brunch Podcast

Tanya T. Morris talks balancing business and motherhood at the Mom Your Business Sunday Brunch.

For those that don’t know, Mom Your Business, Ms. Tanya Morris has been around for a while now. From promoting her book Power of the T, to me overhearing the word “mompreneur” to seeing that now take shape in the form of a podcast. What’s unique and interesting about Mom Your Business is the intersection of motherhood, and entrepreneurship. As it’s reinforced in every event under the brand: elements of motherhood (management, time, planning) play a pivotal role in growing your business. In many of these conversations, growing a business is like raising a child. Poor investments, lack of sight, and under planning can have dire consequences or immediate setbacks.

What Tanya brings to the forefront in these conversations with mompreneurs brings about a change and insight I believe everyone needs to hear.

Charisse McGille is the CEO of Lokal Artsian Foods and was a full-time director of special events for Valley Forge Military Academy and College. Shortly after leaving she began selling her french toast, which starting gaining momentum. McGille grounded her business after spending time in open-air food markets. She is currently getting an MBA in food marketing at St. Joseph’s University

Kia Denise is Founder of www.kiadenise.com her lifestyle brand that chronicles her travels, experiences as personal shopper and soon to be author of the cookbook Mommy, What’s For Dinner coming soon. – Denise was always into home design, posting her love online. It wasn’t until then she was asked to start designing homes. “People really started coming to me after I began sharing on social media. That was the inspiration behind starting my business.”

Grow with a pace that’s doable. Sight is everything and having a vision board put things in perspective. I consult with god in everything I do. I want to grow my lifestyle brand. I want it everywhere, in clothing and things that belong in the home. – Rasheeda Gray

Rasheeda Gray is the founder and principal of Gray Space Interior Design. Gray holds a BS in Marketing and International Business and an M.B.A (master’s in business administration). She also holds a professional certificate in Interior Design from Temple University.

I enjoyed listening to all the conversations, especially when Charisse McGille spoke about her business, its origins and what she’s up these days. She spoke with confidence about open source markets aka pop up shops. Instead of paying for traditional overhead costs (elec/water/rent) you pay a fee of $25-$50, maybe $75 dollars or more to move product grossing 4K for a couple hours of work. That’s a powerful idea to stand behind and be a spokeswoman for the results of that execution.

The Busy Mom Cookbook features recipes from seasoned pros like Darlene Jones of Star Fusion Restaurant, Chef Larry Henry, International Chef Eddie Vann. Submissions by former NFL pro-football player Lajuan Ramsey and the Pitmaster Chuck Gardner. There is something for everyone inside.

Tanya T. Morris is the founder of Mom Your Business, and her mission is to help mompreneurs turn obstacles into opportunities by connecting them to resources that lead to success in business and in life. Tanya and her team provide business development services, training, mentoring and special events. Currently, they are working on promoting a co-working space that will include a children’s play area and maker studio.
