Thanksgiving is most often associated with a full table at home of family, friends and food. Now if your idea of Thanksgiving is avoiding cooking, cleaning, and being at home then maybe you’d like to go out.
Philadelphia restaurants are more than happy to accommodate you. Here is a list of some of the places which have announced their pre fix holiday menus for the occasion if you’d rather not give your aunt’s deep fried turkey a taste.
Celebrate Thanksgiving in style with a stunning view of Rittenhouse Square park at Scarpetta! For $68, the special 4-course prix fixe menu features the best of fall. Choose from first course options include Chestnut Soup (parsnip, celery root & cranberry) and Turkey Stuffing (confit turkey, cranberry chutney, sweet potato puree), second course options of Cappelacci (pumpkin, brown butter sage, amaretti crumb), and Tagliatelle Bolognese (beef, pork & veal ragu), and third course dishes including Pancetta Wrapped Heritage Turkey (cipollini onions, brussels sprouts & autumn vegetables) and Branzino (brussels sprouts, pancetta, fresno chili). End on a sweet note to celebrate the holiday, with dessert options including Pumpkin Cheesecake (spice pineapple mousse & port glazed grapes) or Scarpetta’s signature Espresso Budino (salted caramel, chocolate biscotti & hazelnut gelato), among others!
Rat’s Restaurant is designed to make guests feel like they have stepped back in time to Claude Monet’s beloved town of Giverny. Thanksgiving Day will feature an over-the-top buffet, from 11am – 7pm. Celebrate this Thanksgiving with historic Lancaster’s newest modern American dining concept, Plough! Featuring traditional Thanksgiving dishes and chef’s own family favorites, Plough is the perfect place to dine and enjoy this Thanksgivigng holiday with all of your loved ones. Hours of Operation: Family Style Menu served from 11 AM – 6 PM. From 6 PM until 10 PM, there will be a specialized bar menu that can be ordered off of.

According to researchers, a middle aged mixed woman is the third person to be cured of H.I.V. The patient underwent a new blood transfusion procedure using umbilical cord blood or more specifically, stem cells. Scientists were able to treat her acute myeloid leukemia – a cancer that starts in blood-forming cells in the bone marrow along with building the patient an HIV-resistant immune system. This occurred because the cord blood used contained an HIV-resistant mutation. With this, the patient was able to enter remission for 14 months.
“She was part of a study that began in 2015 designed to monitor outcomes of 25 people with HIV in the U.S. who underwent a transplant, according to the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.” – abcnews

Philadelphia was 1 of 48 counties in the United States selected to receive federal funding in 2019 to combat the HIV epidemic under the Ending the HIV Epidemic: A Plan for America (EHE) initiative. The plan’s overall goal is a 75% reduction in new HIV diagnoses by 2025 and a 90% reduction in new HIV diagnoses by 2030. Through this initiative, PDPH aims to reach these goals by focusing efforts on 5 Key Pillars: Diagnosis, Treatment, Prevention, Response, and an added pillar for an overarching approach based in health equity and radical customer service.
