WomanUP’s Mom Your Business

Published

 May, 12th 2017, 6pm – 9pm

WomanUp’s MOM Your Business brings female entrepreneurs, elected officials and community leaders together for a Pre-Mother’s Day celebration and inspirational event.

Dream, Girl the award-winning documentary showcasing the stories of inspiring and ambitious female entrepreneurs headlines Women UP’s MOM Your Business, pre-Mother’s Day Celebration, Friday, May 12, 2017 at Grand Yesha Ballroom, 2308 Snyder Ave, Philadelphia, PA. “Women are starting 1200 new businesses everyday, and it’s time we bring their stories to the mainstream,” said Komal Minhas, producer and distributor of Dream, Girl.

MOM Your Business will be highlighted by a dynamic panel including Kelly Beard, CEO of Joyce’s LuLu Bang and Mariama Camara, who’s social Enterprise showcases the work of Guinean women tie-dyers from Kindia through collaboration with designer Tory Burch. “We’re excited to have Mariama come and share her story and discuss such issues facing women in business such as equal pay, family leave and accessing capital,” said Tanya T. Morris, organizer.

Additionally, Ms. Andria Mayberry, mother of Byshere Gray from Fox TV’s Empire will inspire attendees with her story of how she maintained a position in the medical field while managing her business ventures as a motivational speaker, philanthropist, emerging sleepwear designer and author. “I was a single mother holding down two jobs while managing my son’s career. I can now take my knowledge and experiences and pass it on to parents that are where I once was,” stated Ms. Mayberry

Woman UP is a networking platform founded by public relations consultant Shari Williams and “Socialpreneur” Tanya T. Morris to celebrate women who are stepping up in their career and community to achieve success personally and professionally. “Our goal is to provide a voice for women who are often overlooked by recognizing their positive impact and contributions throughout the Philadelphia region,” Williams added.

As part of its mission Woman UP donates event proceeds to a local non-profit organization. The Echo Collective, which works with young women to develop their personal and professional skills to move them toward becoming tomorrow’s influencers, will be the MOM Your Business benefactor. The event will feature live music from an all girl band, the WomanUP! Lifetime Achievement Award presented to local female entrepreneurs who have been in business for ten years or more and Dream, Girl Pop-up Shop. This year’s recipient will be Tanya Hill-Holday, McDonald’s franchise who was first African-American woman to own a McDonald’ s on the Main Line.
